Asus Tablet Review – Why I Chose Asus Eee Pad Transformer
November 7, 2011 By Elia 1 Comment
Generally I am not someone who will write a review about tablet PC. I have chosen to write one on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer as I really do feel it has been a worthwhile investment. As you will see from my Asus tablet review this is a great piece of equipment for the price.
Although I have only owned mine for about 6 months I have been extremely impressed with it, even when I chosen to add new apps to it. Okay it isn’t big like the iPad version 2 but I still find the screen on this particular tablet comfortable to use. Also the operating system installed, which is the latest Android one, is very good as well.

So what makes me so enamoured with this particular tablet and has me writing this Asus tablet review.
Well first off it looks absolutely great. The metal frame surrounding it is very sturdy and the knobs on it are also very sturdy being made from metal as well. Okay the back of it is plastic but it is made from the kind that when held makes it feel very solid. In fact overall not only does this look very luxurious it also feels it.
The next thing that I have found great about the Eee Pad Transformer is the IPS screen. No matter what angel it is viewed from you will find the images are still great and the colors that appear on it are well saturated. Also when you touch the screen it is very fast to respond.
As yet I haven’t had to use it until the battery needs recharging. What I have actually found is that I can use it for 6-8 hours at time with various background applications running and the GPS, Wi-Fi and Skype on and the battery has only run itself down to 30% of charge left. So I can use it throughout the day without any problems and then at night I simply plug it in to allow the battery to become charged once more ready for me to then use the next day.
I do quite a lot of travelling and so chose to install the Kindle app on my tablet and has worked perfectly from the moment it was downloaded and installed. So no longer do I have to put a book in my bag. Also the other apps I have installed on my tablet such as the Amazon store works really well as well. Plus of course the preinstalled Google android market app also works perfectly and I have found it extremely easy to navigate.
As for the quality of the sound I have to say that for such a small piece of equipment this tablet does pack a punch. When on long trips with my children it has proven invaluable in allowing them to watch movies and play games. There have actually been occasions when driving that I have asked them to turn the sound down on it.
As you can see from this Asus tablet review I am really happy with the money invested and this tablet is certainly my favorite apart from ipad version 2.
Why Was Buying The iPad Version 2 A Good Investment?

I was one of the few that decided to wait until the iPad version 2 was released before I spent money on this piece of equipment. I am actually glad that I did wait and as you read through my review of this tablet you will soon see why.
The first that I love about this particular piece of equipment is that it operates at a much faster speed than the original iPad. I know this because I have tried out my friends original versions alongside my own. The other thing I love about the iPad 2 is that although it looks very similar to the original one it is a great deal sleeker and lighter. However what has really sold me on this tablet are the cameras.

As you would expect with all Apple products this one is really an amazing piece of kit and is certainly what the future of mobile computing is going to be like. When it comes to this particular tablet I have found the screen to be extremely responsive to my touch and as yet I haven’t had an issue with regards to how long the battery lasts before charging is required. In fact so far I have been able to use it for two days without the need to plug it in for recharging. This has proved invaluable when travelling. However I still remember to take a charger with me.
Okay the number of apps available isn’t the same as you may find with other less expensive tablets. But Apple are working on this and there are plenty of new apps being made available all the time. I have found that there are certain apps currently available so no longer is there a need for me to actually take a laptop with me when I’m travelling. So of course I don’t have to lug a laptop case on any flights saving me money when away on business.
But these aren’t the only things that have shown to me that investing in the iPad 2 was a very wise decision. The other reasons are as follows:
- I decided to go with the 16GB model and have that this is more than sufficient for my needs, especially as I won’t be using it to store videos or music on it. Instead what I have chosen to do is rely on DropBox to store files that I may need when on business trips and which allows me to view and edit them.
- The next reason why investing in this device has proven very beneficial to me is that unlike a laptop I can simply place it on my lap to use it. Also the risk of it getting hot or overheated is very minimal which was a constant problem I faced when running a laptop for any length of time because the vents became blocked when I couldn’t keep it on a flat surface.
- Of course what really sold me on purchasing the iPad version 2 was the price. For such an amazing device I really did expect to have to pay considerably more.
